We decided in September to take a quick weekend family trip to Island Park and Yellowstone. Logan has never been up there and I was up there a lot growing up and wanted to take Logan up for his first trip to Yellowstone and be able to stay with my grandparents in their home. We had so much fun and hope to be able to have many more trips up there.
Island Park
We went to Big Springs and were lucky enough to see a few of the big fish. Unfortunalty there are not nearly as many as there used to be. We were able to see some Moose while we were there.
It was so nice to be in Island Park again. It is so beautiful. While talking with my Grandpa one day I learned that he has been going up there since his childhood. I am so grateful that he has shared his love of the area with our family.
Yellowstone
We went on a little hike. We saw beaver dams, but weren't there at the right time of day to see the beavers come out.
I think Logan's favorite part was watching Old Faithful because he asked the second day to again go watch the "Boom" (meaning the eruption), so we did.
We attended a ranger presentation at Old Faithful and got Logan a Jr Ranger badge.
We were lucky to meet kind people who were willing to take pictures for us.
Ryan bought Binoculars in West Yellowstone so that Logan could try to see a Bear. I don't know how he didn't get sick looking through them as we drove. The only bears we ended up seeing were a mom and her 2 cubs who were stuffed and in a case at the Fishing Bridge visitors center.
My parents have a picture with my Dad and brothers standing next to a sign like this so we decided since Logan loves fishing with Papa and his Uncles we should take a picture by a sign too. Someday I'm sure they will teach him how to fly fish.
We saw a ton of Bison, some Elk, and
a bald Eagle.
It was such a fun trip, we hope to go back again next year.
