Island Park Summer vacation

This year we took Cari, Kevin, Kenzie, Tanner and Cooper with us to Island Park to stay at the Condo for the week, they have never been to Yellowstone and we knew that they would enjoy the area. My family has gone to Island Park my whole life; my grandma told me while we were there that they have been going up there for 40 years. My grandparents have actually built a home up there and live there year round now.

The car ride up was good. Cooper the 3 year old was so quiet that you didn't even know he was there half the time. He showed his older brother and sister up big time.




The day after we got there we went geocaching on the way up to Big Springs. We got to see a Jack Rabbit when we were heading back to the car after finding the geocache. There are huge fish that you can feed up at Big Springs, unfortunately the seagulls have figured it out and they are everywhere; they didn't used to be there but it was still a lot of fun to be there. The kids had fun looking under the bridge and throwing the food to the fish hiding under it and watching them come up to get it.










We went over to my grandparents house Saturday evening to visit everyone who was staying there. We had a fire and roasted marshmallows, and got to ride Uncle Doug and Aunt Cindy's 4 wheelers. Ryan rode my cousin Ryan's dirt bike, crashed and got some good scrapes and sprained his wrist and thumb.

We drove up to Sawtell Peak on Sunday. It was very windy and there were a lot of bugs. This is to big ball that is at the top. The view is amazing; the pictures I took don't do it justice so I haven't posted any. You just have to go see it. On the way down the mountain we found a couple of geocaches.


We went to Yellowstone on Monday and then again on Wednesday. These are some of the animals that we saw.

The kids were so funny with the sulfur smell from all of the hot pots. We told them that it was a rotten egg smell. Tanner was plugging his nose and said "I don't like the rotten egg smell. What do rotten eggs smell like?".




Waiting for Old faithful to erupt. Luckily we didn't have to wait for very long.



Wednesday we went on the upper loop to Mammoth Hot Springs and were able to play in the river where there is the hot water coming in to the cold and the kids loved it.





We floated down the Henry's Fork of the Snake River on Tuesday. It was so much fun. It was about a 2 hour trip. The water was so cold but it was a lot of fun. There were a few times the river was so shallow that we had to get out and pull the raft, and then there were other times it was so deep that the paddle couldn't reach the bottom and our arms were almost all the way in the river.


Thursday we spent at the Island Park Reservoir with Uncle Doug, Aunt Cindy, Ryan, Uncle Mike, Aunt Nan, Chelsea, McKay, Josh, and the dog Norman.
